Jerusalem as anomaly

Perhaps you remember last year when I discovered that, if you Google “What time is it in Ramallah?”, Google would serve up one of their weird little “boxes” that claimed Ramallah was part of Israel. I let a friend at Google know, and within a week, the problem was fixed…and for awhile, a search for any city in Israel or Palestine remained country-less in results.

Since then, I’ve found all sorts of weird anomalies in those boxes – try searching “Who founded Occupy?” for example. At one point, the box that came up on a search of my name stated I was from “Dover, UK” (I’m from Dover, NH, as reflected in my Wikipedia entry).

In any case, over drinks last night we tested a few more disputed areas, and found that Jerusalem is an anomaly (only Ceuta, contested by Morocco, fares similarly). Check it out:
